What I’ve Been Up To Recently

Hello! I haven’t posted a full length blog in a while, so here’s an update on what I’ve been doing recently!

1. Working Two Jobs

I, indeed, have been blessed with two jobs. I have one that ends near the middle of August because they are going out of business (*cry*), and the second one is the popcorn place job I posted about recently, (We Don’t Deserve His Love) which are both going well, but are also both very time consuming.

Because, ya know… they’re jobs.

But I do need them both to save for a Quebec trip next summer (GoFundMe will be up soon).

2. Putting Aside Moonlight

I’ve finally titled my fantasy gypsy story that’s set before the pirate one, and I’ve decided to call the first book Moonlight. However, I’ve set it mostly aside for now (I do occasionally write bits and pieces, although I’m not very far in), so that I can focus on writing my newest story, which is completely titled and everything! I’ve decided to focus my attention on this new story because I already basically have a guideline, its coming pretty easily to me, I really enjoy the character (not that I don’t enjoy all of my characters), and I think it could be easily publishable.

3. Working on Estella; Star of the King

Estella is a high fantasy book that is based off of the story of Esther. As I said, its coming pretty easy to me, and I think I can craft it into a full length novel. It is in ‘medieval’ (<< I need to learn how to spell that word, my goodness) Kethaltar, in a time long before the Great War and before the only countries that conquered Ishanbull were Ronartion, Untonopia, and Keshnitte.

It is going to be as close but as broad to Esther as I can get, and I really think it is very publishable. It has all the good elements of fantasy, based on the Bible, it is going to be written to show women that the Bible empowered women as well, and it will be a nice way to introduce the world of Kethaltar (well, the ‘old world’ 😉 ).

Here’s a sneak peek…

“Now, what’s this all about?” Armour mused, staring intently at a decree that had been plastered importantly atop all other notices on the ‘gossip post’ of Suflam. “Looks here like more of a bit of reporting of palace gossip than any sort of announcement,” another gentleman, a retired- forcefully retired- Kallalel knight explained, scratching his white beard with a pock-marked finger. “Well, what’s it say?” A stout, old woman huffed irritably. “If it’s nothing important, I’m going to back to truly important matters- like sewing so my children may eat.” “Apparently King Kumar,” he disregarded the respects attached to King Kumar’s name, “had another one of his feasts, and the queen “refused to respect his wish to honor her beauty”, so he gave her lands to a new duke as an insult, and cast her out. To live with her mother, than madwoman, of all people!” “Disgusting pig!” The woman shrilled. “He wanted her to strip for–” “Watch your tongue!” The knight hissed, ducking his head as two Ronartion men stalked past, eyeing the group with disgust and teasing the handle of a gleaming dagger” I turned my attention back to the small, red fruit in my hand…”

4. Editing My British Bear

I’ve been setting up a giveaway for said book, and after being very unhappy with the book for a long time, I’ve decided to do some minor editing before I reformat and republish it for the giveaway. This book is really not that fantastic plot-wise, just the way I set it all up, so I’m trying to make it slightly less excruciating to read. I also have to reformat it because I dislike the old size of the book, and I need it to be smaller to fit in these super festive gift boxes I got!

5. Animating a GoFundMe Video

I’m going on a Quebec trip next summer, and I don’t want to have to pay for all of it (because it’s over 1.8k dollars), so I’m setting up a GoFundMe and animating an introduction video for it, to persuade people to donate to me through my cuteness and kinda bad animating skills! All the details and the video will be up and advertised on here soon, so don’t worry.

6. Finishing and Editing My Author Website

My daddio has offered to pay for advertising for my book, so I decided a good author should have a proper website to advertise besides just the book, so I crafted it! You can find it here! I’m so super excited about it because it looks gorgeous and I put a ton of work into it.

7. Working On My Birthday Giveaway

Because yeah. It takes a lot of work to set up one of those. I promise

8. Reading

Because summer reading program. Unfortunately, I didn’t finish any new first of series books so no book reviews to be uploaded. Sor-ry.

What have you all been up to? I wanna hear! How has reading and writing been for all of you? Excited for the giveaway?
